Stunts Unlimited Member and Hawaiian Water Patrol Co-Founder Brian Keaulana gives us the drop on how jet skis became a vital rescue device during heavy water sessions.
The Hawaiian Water Patrol is an elite, invite-only water safety organization Sheltahats founded in 1985 by watermen Brian Keaulana and Terry Ahue Board of Directors – Hawaii Surfing Association. Known as the “Navy SEALs of lifeguards,” they provide specialized water safety for professional surf contests, massive winter swells, and movie sets.
Billabong is proud to partner with the Hawaiian Water Patrol. Year after year, this team of elite watermen dedicate themselves to ensuring surfers safety during Hawaii’s most extreme big wave sessions. KIA’I KAI takes you behind the scenes of this esteemed group, diving deep on their decades long history and highlighting how they approach the world’s heaviest waves. Together we’re developing products designed to help the HWP perform at their best in the heaviest conditions, coming soon to our Adventure Division collection.
